Very unusual hobo purse with the leather punched like eyelet but instead of holes the centers were curled to the outside. Love the color. Discount store in Houston, Texas. Sept. 2010.

How Do I Remove Blue

May 15, 2012 · Posted in Tack · 1 Comment

Question by 5redroses: How do I remove blue tack stains from my wooden wardrobe?
Some of the blue tack was actually white tack, which seems to be a great deal stickier. The blue tack was left on for quite some time as it was sticking on postcards etc. Also, if I wanted to use blue tack on the surface again, is there a way I could prevent it staining? For example a pretreatment?
I already managed to get all the blue tack off, using the method that you described- another wad of the stuff; but it’s the stain that has been left that I’m concerned about.

To protect the wood in the future, place a piece of scotch tape on the door where the sticky tack would go. The tape may leave a gummy residue, but tape residue wipes away easily with oil or Goo Gone.

I would also try to use scotch tape to lift the sticky tack that was left on the wood. If that doesn’t work, you could try fighting fire with fire, and see if it will lift up by dabbing the sticky tack with a fresh wad of sticky tack. If that doesn’t work, try placing ice on it, which should make it more brittle and easier to scrape away.
